If your car was manufactured after January 2017, it will take the new R1234YF gas, which was introduced as it is more environmentally friendly. If your car or vehicle was manufactured before 2014, it will almost definitely need the old R134A gas. If you bought your car between 2014 and 2016, it could use either gas as the new R1234YF gas was phased in during this period – so check with your local garage if you don’t have the information to hand.
